The Five Lenses of Risk for All Insurance Investment Portfolios

Attendees will gain a practical framework for evaluating investment strategies through the lens of an insurance portfolio. The session introduces the Five Risk Lenses™—liquidity, credit, ALM alignment, complexity, and portfolio fit—and demonstrates how these dimensions drive real-world allocation decisions. Participants will leave with a structured approach to assessing risk that aligns with how insurance CIOs actually make decisions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the five distinct dimensions of risk—liquidity, credit, ALM mismatch, complexity, and portfolio fit—within an insurance investment portfolio.
  • Differentiate how each risk lens influences investment decision-making under varying liability structures and stress scenarios.
  • Determine whether a proposed investment strategy improves overall portfolio fit relative to existing holdings and constraints.
