The IASA is unique because of the deep reliance the organization places on volunteers at both the national and local levels.  There are hundreds of volunteers supporting the association in nearly every facet of our organization.  Volunteers serve on a variety of committees as they represent the interests of the membership. Volunteers also support program development. We are now seeking to fill committee positions on active committees through June 30, 2020.  Committee rotations run annually on a fiscal year calendar.  Current active committees include:

Get Involved, New Short-Term Volunteer Projects!

Volunteering with IASA is a great way to meet other members and contribute your talents to the insurance community. As IASA continues to evolve, we are challenging ourselves to engage our volunteers on a more strategic level as the content and industry experts they are. In addition, IASA wants to ensure that we are respectful of the commitment our volunteers make and that we use their time and talents in the most efficient and effective manner. 

With IASA’s new volunteer program, members can sign-up for short-term opportunities, based on their interest, that will have a big impact on the organization.  This opportunity is especially great for members who are limited on time but want to contribute their talent to IASA and/or those who are new to organizational leadership. Consider getting involved today!

Volunteer Awards

Every year IASA volunteers vote for, and award, local and national volunteers for outstanding contributions throughout the year and winners are recognized at the IASA Annual Educational Conference and Business Show.  

New Volunteer of the Year 
The New Volunteer of the Year award is presented to a national volunteer with less than 2 years of experience who made a significant contribution to the association.  Contributions include active engagement in committee activities, working diligently to achieve committee goals, creating efficiencies in committee functions and bringing innovative and fresh ideas to the table.

Volunteer of the Year
The Volunteer of the Year award is presented to a national volunteer who individually made a significant and notable contribution during the past year to the IASA. These contributions include taking on additional committee responsibilities, improving committee processes, serving on multiple committees and working diligently to complete committee goals.  

Chapter Excellence Volunteer of the Year
The Chapter Volunteer of the Year award is presented to a chapter volunteer who effectively enhanced the chapter meeting experience.  These individuals demonstrated an effective way to increase chapter membership and attendance, assisted a fellow officer in meeting a crucial deadline and overall contributed to the success of the chapter meeting.

One of the best professional development experiences...

"I have been engaged with the IASA for about ten years through at the local and national levels. Originally, as someone new to the industry the IASA helped me to get up to speed on the current economic and technology trends impacting the industry. More important, it provided a network of industry experts that I can reach out to with questions and that has helped me grow personally and professionally.

Personally, I believe that my involvement as a Volunteer has helped me develop both my technical and “soft skills”. As a Finance and Accounting professional, I have been able to be engaged in activities that keep me informed on industry trends, while exposing me to activities that I would not be engaged in through my normal routine activities. For example, I have had the opportunity to actively participate on activities related to marketing, educational content development, and supporting a large conference.

 From an organizational perspective, I believe that benefits have also been substantial. The support of my IASA activities, has demonstrated a commitment to my professional growth and on‐going development. Additionally, I have been able to leverage the skills I have learned with IASA in an impactful way within my organization. Due to the additional interaction with network peers, I have able to strengthen my interpersonal communication skills, inform leadership of technology and business trends, and helped identify solution providers for upcoming project needs. Overall, I think that volunteering with the IASA has been one of the best professional development experiences of my career. It has helped me to accelerate my personal and professional growth and helped me to see the value that my company places on investing in our people.
