Our Management Team


Beech Turner, President 

Beech Turner joined Assurant Inc. in February, 2010. Beech has over 20 years’ experience in the Insurance Accounting industry holding financial management positions with Meadowbrook Insurance Group and Builders Insurance Group before joining Assurant. Beech’s current position as Vice President, Finance includes the role of Treasurer on four property and casualty Insurance companies, GAAP financial reporting, including reinsurance accounting and supports business growth initiatives. Beech holds a Finance degree from Davenport University and a Masters of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. He has volunteered for the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (IASA) since 2002 participating on various committees, most recently served as CFO and President-Elect and for the 2018-2019 year will be serving as President. Beech and his family currently reside in Atlanta where they moved from Michigan in 2003.

Rod Travers, IASA Executive Director

Rod Travers joined the IASA Team in July 2017 as Executive Vice President and over the past year worked closely with IASA Executive Director, Joe Pomilia, on key initiatives including program development, strategic planning and member relations.  In July 2018, Rod succeeded Joe Pomilia as Executive Director in anticipation of Joe's planned retirement in September 2018.  Rod comes to IASA as a long-time volunteer, previously serving as Executive Vice President and COO of Nolan Consulting which specializes in strategy, operations, and technology for insurance carriers.  Rod's background is in information systems, operations management, and brand advocacy.  Rod was a principal and head of operations for Nolan and also served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Management Consulting Firms (AMCF).  Rod has served IASA as President, President-Elect, as a member of the Board of Directors, and in Management Team roles including VP-Seminars (executive education) and VP-Marketing and Communications.  Rod is a Texas native where he lives with his wife Lori and their two daughters.

Carlos Correa, President-Elect

Carlos Correa is also a long time volunteer for IASA most recently serving as the Vice President and Head of Technology for the United States and Latin American region of Liberty International Underwriters (LIU) for 16 years.  During this time he lead various regional and global systems implementations and conversion projects.  In addition to his IT positions, he has held Underwriting and Claims positions within the company. He is a graduate of Villanova University with his Masters from Boston University. He has been a senior volunteer for IASA and management team member holding positions as Technology Education Director, Vice President of Business Show, CIO, CFO and for 2018-2019 will serve as President-Elect.


Scott McEntee, CFO

Scott is currently Vice President of Accounting and Assistant Treasurer at Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa, the 4th largest crop insurance company in the nation.  He is responsible for the accounting and reporting functions as well as Enterprise Risk Management programs for the Farmers Mutual Hail Group of Companies. He is a national and local speaker on the topic of ERM for insurance companies.  Prior to joining FMH Scott was the Director of Statutory reporting for the US operations of Aviva USA. Scott has over 30 years of experience in P&C, life, managed care, and banking industries. He has held various leadership positions throughout his career and with the IASA’s Midwest Chapter; he has been a national volunteer for 6 years, serving as VP-Membership and most recently VP-Publications. Scott sits on the Board of Directors of Iowa’s “Global Insurance Accelerator” and is also a mentor to startup companies and entrepreneurs participating in the program. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and has numerous designations from the Insurance Institute of America. Scott lives in Grimes, Iowa with his wife Sue, and has 3 sons.


Laurie Macklosky, CIO

Laurie Macklosky is AVP of Execution at The Hartford and has a proven track record in successful execution of large scale multiyear multi-million dollar projects and programs using expertise in various methodologies (Agile/Lean/SAFe, Waterfall/Incremental).  Laurie was most recently 2nd Vice President and Execution Lead for Business Insurance at Travelers and her previous roles have included organizational redesign and competency build. Laurie has been an IASA volunteer for over 10 years, most recently holding the position of VP of Executive Education. She lives in Bristol CT with her husband, Rick and two children.

Joanne Kearbey, VP-Business Show

Joanne Kearbey, CPA, is a Principal in the Brown Smith Wallace Insurance Advisory Services practice and has more than 19 years of experience in the insurance and tax industries.  Joanne works with her clients in various capacities, including reviewing complex Statutory and GAAP income tax provisions as well as being responsible for both stand alone as well as consolidated P&C and Life insurance tax returns.  Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, Joanne served as a senior associate in the insurance tax group at PricewaterhouseCoopers.  She holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Missouri and is a member of the AICPA and MOCPA.  Joanne became a volunteer in her local IASA chapter in 2006, holding several office positions including President, and has continued to be involved both locally and Nationally.  She helped with the revitalization of the IASA P&C and Life Textbooks and most recently she served as Co-chair of Communications on the Chapter Advisory Committee.  Joanne will serve as the 2018-2019 VP-Exhibits.  Joanne lives in St. Louis, MO with her husband, Don and has three children.

Allan Leonard, VP-Chapter Advisory

Allan Leonard is currently the VP of Marketing Services at Gabriel Group. Allan has attended and volunteered for several Chapter meetings over the years and most recently serving as the VP of Exhibits for the Show Me Chapter.  Allan has volunteered nationally for IASA for the past 12 years where he has chaired and co-chaired multiple sub-committees for the Exhibits, Chapters and Volunteer Development Committees and will be serving as VP-Chapter Advisory for the 2018-2019 year.  Allan lives in St. Charles, MO and enjoys spending his time being active and outdoors.

Jason Nickles, VP-e-Learning

Jason Nickles is currently an AVP and Assistant Controller for Western & Southern Financial Group in Cincinnati, OH. Jason has volunteered at his local chapter since 2007 and is currently Immediate Past President of the Southwest Ohio Chapter President. Jason has previously served as a member of the Membership and Chapter Advisory Committees as well as Co-Chair of the Volunteer Development Mentoring Program and Chair of the Insurance Accounting, Risk Management and Finance Education Program Committee. Most recently he served as VP-Volunteer Development and for the 2018-2019 year will serve as VP-e-Learning. He has a BSBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Cincinnati and is a licensed CPA in the state of Ohio. Jason lives in Cincinnati with his wife Emily and his daughter Addison.

Doug Ramsey, VP-Education

Doug Ramsey is a Vice President within Travelers, Personal Insurance, accountable for the Strategic Capability Investment Portfolio, as well as the Business Architecture, Business Analysis, and User Experience practices. With a career focused on building high-performing teams and implementing strategic business capabilities, Doug has been with Travelers since 2010. Prior to Travelers, Doug spent nine years at Accenture, a global technology consulting firm, as a Senior Manager leading transformational systems integration initiatives at multiple US Tax & Revenue agencies. Doug holds a M.S. in Software Development and Management from Rochester Institute of Technology, with a B.S. in Computer Science from Providence College. Doug most recently served IASA as Chair - Technology Program and VP-Education.  For the 2018-2019 year will be serving as VP-Education.  Outside of work, Doug enjoys spending time with his wife and young twin boys, improving his fledgling golf game, and helping others, through activities such as being an adjunct professor at the UCONN School of Business and volunteering his time in support of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (IASA) educational offerings.

Claire Burke, VP-Executive Education

As Vice President, Finance and Compliance Management, Claire Burke oversees all of the operations for Dearborn National’s Finance organization, including accounting, financial reporting, internal audit, facilities and financial systems. Claire also is responsible for the Compliance function at Dearborn National, which includes regulatory oversight, regulatory operations and privacy. In addition to her Finance and Compliance roles, Claire also serves as Chief of Staff to the CEO, which includes leading the development of the company’s strategic plan, as well as facilitating its implementation and monitoring and reporting on the execution of its initiatives.  Claire joined Dearborn National in 2009 as Director of Corporate Planning and Development. She has 19 years of experience in financial roles within the insurance industry. Most recently, she served as Divisional Vice President, Controller and Treasurer at Dearborn National and prior to joining Dearborn National was Director of Financial Initiatives at Health Care Service Corporation. Claire also held management roles at CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Claire earned a master’s degree in accounting, a master’s degree in management and a bachelor’s degree in finance, all from Loyola University Maryland. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).


Darin Reffitt, VP-Marketing and Communications

Darin Reffitt is VP of Marketing for SPLICE Software, which specializes in using Big Data & Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deliver Voice and SMS messaging that drives insurance customer engagement and the desired call to action.  He began volunteering with IASA at the national level in 2012, and has served as chair of both the Social Media and Solution Provider Enrichment Sub-committees; he now serves as Board Member at Large of IASA's Mid-Atlantic Chapter in addition to his management team role.  He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Ursinus College and his MBA in Marketing from St. Joseph's University.  He volunteers regularly with other organizations, reads voraciously, speaks occasionally on social media, networking and personal branding, and golfs, albeit poorly.

Ann Wiesler, VP-Membership and Industry Relations

Ann Wiesler, CPA, is a managing director at Cardinal Investment Advisors, LLC.  Ann is responsible for helping insurance clients create, implement, and monitor investment strategy to support their operations.  Before joining Cardinal in 2007, Ann worked in several accounting roles at Verizon and State Street Bank.  She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Truman State University and an MBA from Webster University.  Ann started volunteering at her local IASA chapter in 2009 and is still involved.  She most recently served as VP-Chapter Advisory and for the 2018-2019 year will serve as VP-Membership and Industry Relations.  Ann lives in St. Louis, MO. 

Scott Bowen, VP-Publications

Scott is currently Vice President and Controller of International Fidelity Insurance Company headquartered in Newark, NJ.  Scott has over 30 years of experience in the P&C finance and accounting industry having started his career with KPMG in Buffalo, NY after receiving a bachelors degree in accounting from Niagara University.   A move to New York City opened the doors to several managerial positions with New York based P&C carriers.   He has been an IASA  national volunteer for 4 years having spent a majority his time working on the organization’s e-learning actives and is currently a board member of the Metro NY/NJ Chapter.   Scott resides in Manhattan, NY and the east end of Long Island with his husband Jorge and is an avid amateur genealogist.

Kristine Weber, VP-Volunteer Development

Kristine Weber is currentlSenior Vice President, Accounting & Claims Manager, Client Reinsurance Operations at BMS Intermediaries, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN. Kristine has been in the reinsurance space in Minneapolis for 11 years, some of which with other firms including Benfield Inc., John B Collins, and Guy Carpenter & Co. Her specialties include Professional Liability & Medical Malpractice Insurance as well as Property & Casualty Insurance. Kristine has been a National IASA volunteer for 4years and has been involved with the Volunteer Development & ARF Committees.  She has most recently served as Director - Leadership Development and for the 2018-2019 year will serve as VP-Volunteer Development.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Risk & Insurance from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. Kristine lives in Minneapolis with her husband Jon and five children.
