eInterpreter: What is the biggest benefit of having access to insurance education locally to you and your company?
Thome: Staying abreast of hot topics across the industry. It's very easy to only focus on the insurance segment you work in on a day to day basis; IASA provides me with the opportunity to not lose site of what is important in all of the segments.
eInterpreter: If money was no object...what would you love to do for a living?
Thome: Traveling the world to experience all the different cultures and of course, the food!
eInterpreter: How did you first get started in the insurance industry?
Thome: I had an internship while I was in college at a company that conducts the financial condition examinations on behalf of state insurance departments. I have been in the insurance industry my entire professional career.
eInterpreter: What would you say to a colleague, or even a peer at another company, who has never attended an IASA Chapter event about getting involved?
Thome: You are missing out. IASA is providing insurance professionals with many opportunities, locally, regionally, and nationally to obtain quality continuing education and deepen professional relationships. Through the meetings I have attended and volunteering opportunities I have had the pleasure to meet and work with some wonderful individuals.
eInterpreter: What is your current job and what aspect of your position do you find most rewarding?
Thome: The people that I get to work with each and every day.
eInterpreter: So after a tough day...is your release a good workout, a certain food, or something over ice?
Thome: Actually, my two dogs are what I look forward to after a rough day.
