Each month, the IASA Industry Pulse takes a quick read on issues important to the industry.
"2015-2016 Challenges and Opportunities"

The April 2015 IASA Industry Pulse poll focused on the "2015-2016 Challenges and Opportunities" your company faces in the areas of Technology, Finance, Operations and Investments and will be a comparative to the same polls conducted in April of 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

•    From the results, it is clear to say that the biggest technology-related challenge facing insurance companies in the next 12 months is systems replacement, with 54% choosing that option.
•    The biggest finance-related challenge was underwriting profitability with 47% of respondents selecting it.
•    The operational challenges were more evenly selected with retaining/recruiting quality talent, customer service, and cost containment being the three most selected challenges at 42%, 39% and 36%, respectively.
•    Investment yields (low interest rate environment) was the biggest investment-related challenge by far, with 68% of respondents selecting that option.

Personal Professional Development
This month's our Industry Pulse poll focuses on Personal Professional Development and will be asking how you make time for professional development, what types of activities you participate in to expand your skills, what you consider the most important qualities you need to possess and develop in your career, what makes you valuable to your employer and what skill sets you are developing in the coming year.  Results will be shared with our members on the Industry Pulse page of the IASA web site next month.
