Biography
John has provided professional audit services to several large and mid-sized companies in accordance with U.S. GAAP, statutory accounting principles and SEC reporting. John is familiar with a broad array of accounting models including accounting for insurance and insurtech entities, not-for-profit entities, and employee benefit plans. In addition, John leads the Columbus Office’s insurtech growth efforts which includes supplying services that fit the needs of rapidly growing companies. John is a leader in the KPMG Columbus office and spearheads the KPMG Columbus community impact initiatives. John is dedicated to his community having served in leadership positions at several non-profit entities, including the IASA and Furniture Bank of Central Ohio. John is a graduate of Leadership Columbus’ 2020 Signature Program and was named to Columbus Business First’s 40 under 40 list in 2021.
Position Statement
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the IASA Board position. With my qualifications and passion for the industry, I am confident that I am the best candidate to lead and serve the IASA community.
Having previously served as a board member for the Central Ohio Chapter of IASA, I have gained valuable experience and insights into the organization’s mission and goals. As an audit partner in KPMG’s insurance practice, I have a deep understanding of both property and casualty (P&C) and life insurance entities. This expertise allows me to bring a comprehensive perspective to the table.
Throughout my career, I have actively contributed to the coordination of KPMG’s insurance conference, ensuring its success and relevance. This experience has honed my skills in organizing industry events and understanding what members need and expect from such gatherings.
If elected, my upcoming year will be focused on learning and becoming an influential voice in shaping the IASA’s strategic vision. I am committed to driving growth and increasing membership by exploring new avenues for content delivery and forging partnerships with other organizations.
Two specific goals I aim to achieve in the upcoming year are:
- Enhancing professional development opportunities: I will work towards expanding educational resources, training programs, and certifications to support the continuous learning and development of IASA members.
- Fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing: I will facilitate networking opportunities, forums, and conferences that encourage industry professionals to exchange ideas, insights, and best practices.
In the next five years, it is critical for the IASA to achieve growth in the area of embracing leading-edge topics impacting the insurance industry. By staying ahead of emerging trends and technologies, we can ensure that our members are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape.
